When organising a business or community event:

  1. Keep speeches short and to the point, time people if necessary to keep things fair.
  2. Alternate speeches with activities if possible.
  3. Keep your best speaker as or for the event’s climax.
  4. Make sure there is real value for the guests in any presentations, speeches or activities as no one appreciates having their time wasted.
  5. Outline your plan to a trusted third party and get their feedback at the planning stage. This can improve the event and save time in later delays due to last minute changes.
